I picked the boat up a week ago. So far im happy with it considering its basically free. Well not free, but i got little to no monetary value in the boat as i traded a Zero turn for the boat. And the zero turn was free to me. It needs a couple things. some small hull refurbishing.(scratches and a few dings) the live well pumps need replaced. (advice on what pumps to use are welcome). trailer needs some basic work (lights wired, fresh carpet on runners. small things) The motor is a 1991 70hp johnson, The good thing about the motor is it has had a rebuild less than 40 hours ago. And it runs really well. trim works great. got a small noise on occasion, but i think it just needs serviced. boat needs the front deck carpeted, but i did get fresh carpet in the trade. Has 3 live wells with two being hooked up. Rod box. a eagle depth finder. 46lb motor-guide trolling motor. Battery maintainer. two big deep cycle batterys. The boat took on alitte water, but i belive that due to my pumps not being sealed around the through hull well. and i know a livewell hose leaks and some water gets in from backwash,

Ill add some pics of it. Anyone ever had a Javelin 353 or similar? If so any recommended mods and improvements ? What are some good fair priced pumps to replace the live well pumps? What do yall think of the trade? did i do well? . 12650516_1080193205366317_304748996_n.jpg 12626098_1077491315636506_921606846_n.jpg 12735918_1083147285070909_1816759449_n.jpg 12735703_1083147198404251_1218539218_n.jpg 12696274_1083147161737588_532381817_n.jpg

Nice looking rig...take care of those issues inside and outside of the hull and you'll have a great FISHIN boat for a long time...where do you fish in TN?

you will get lots of advice here but my pearl of wisdom is just use it for now. You will notice the stuff you thought you needed you don't.

Bman2895, How most folks add on gadgets is using their boat, they want something to help their efforts, be it fishing, tube pulling or whatever. So YOU will decide what extras you will need when the time comes. To just buy add on's is not the way to do it. JMHO

On thing I would ADD if you do not have one already installed is a fuel/water separator filter. I've had one on my last three boats and will be installing one on my Alumacraft redo. It keeps the water and nasty crud from getting to your engine. I just replace the canister at the end of the season. Watts Bar is a good lake, a number of years ago we vacationed on it.

Alright so ive done something kinda cool. cool to me anyways. So ive contemplated how to install a speedometer to my boat. And well this is my entirely free solution. SO phones that can access gps can access it regardless of if it actually having service. Also they have cameras so i can have a sort of dash cam. you can get any app you want making it very versatile. So i took an old android phone with a phone case. ive mounted one half the case to a mount and the other stays on the phone. so it will also be detachable. i need to wire up a 12v outlet to run a phone charger from, but that should be easy. so what do you think? Not sure if this is just backyard ingenuity or great purposing lol12767643_1088834347835536_146645622_n.jpg 12659834_1088834354502202_2027222392_n.jpg 12746293_1088834364502201_1273647728_n.jpg
