Been doing some work on my 1990 Johnson 15 hp J15EESR here lately, I bought this motor back in June of 2017 and really just now getting around to working on it. I replaced tiller handle twist grip and lanyard, put in new water pump kit,put in new carb kit, replaced pull rope and handle, replaced electric start push button assembly.

Before I re installed pull rope assembly I had noticed where the throttle cable comes through one of the bolts or screws was missing on the block that hold down the throttle cable ball. So I started looking close in all the hidden places under the power head. I spotted something shiny and though I found the missing bolt but it was not it, it turned out to be a broken piece of the throttle cam follower or assembly the way it can be subscribed

On the broken off piece was a part # 331169 so I started my search of where this part is located and I could not find anything in the parts diagrams, done a google search without much luck also and called a place that deals with OMC parts and they had nothing on that number. Finally found what the deal is that 331169 part # has been super duper succeeded by part # 0396740. I really didn't know where that part was located at first and it was staring me right in the face all along. Since it was black in color I guess I was just over looking the broke off piece.

Anyway I wanted to post a few pics below of the location where the part goes and couple of pics of the broken part. You do have to pull the flywheel to remove old part and replace the new one. The red arrows point to where the Throttle cam follower goes.

#43 will be the throttle cam and screw assembly: http://www.iboats.com/Ignition/dm/ca...iew_id.1537042 Should be what you need.

[edit. clamped in place by the support place underneath -- if you haven't got it fixed yet]
Oldboat1 you are correct on it being #43 on the parts diagram, I just failed to mention that in the original post. My part is on order, should be here today or tomorrow I hope. Just wanted to let someone know that the part's numbers have changed if they was looking for a Throttle cam around my outboards year model.

Yes. You may find reference to pn 0766403 for your motor, which is obsolete.
