1990 johnson 200hp water pump.

just bought this motor it cranks and runs good the pee stream trickes water out but should be a steady stream even at idle. am i correct? I am about to try and replace the water pump i am green to boat motors what all should i need besides vaseline, foot grease and the waterpump kit? any advice on things to look out for or tips?

A big long screw driver to get up under the motor to loosen the sfift linkage screw. This is after you remove the side cowels.

Also a 1/2 and 9/16 sockets or wrenchs. To get the lower unit.

A very strong back to lift the lower unit.

3/8 and 1/2" socket or wrenchs for the pump dissassembly and assembly.

Moly lube for the drive shaft splines.

And alot of time to line un the drive shaft and water tube!!!!! LOL

It's not hard just time consuming.

I hope you have instructions or maunal to provide the torques for the bolts.

3/8" bolts 37-40 ft/lbs
7/16" bolts 65-70 ft/lbs

Trim tab screw is 120-144in/lbs

the shift rob screw is just tighten. Make sure you put the lock wasker back in.

Thanks you im gunna give it a go any clue how many tubes of foot grease i should get for regreasing?

Don't know where you are going to put the foot grease. So only one I guess......
Lower unit oil you will need 30-33 fl. oz.

Yes it should shoot a steady stream.

Seloc Manual for this model gives a description on a holder for lower end. Very easy to build with 2"x6" and a couple of screws. Also remove tel tale to check for debris
