1990 Johnson 88 SPL vs. 1987 Johnson 88 SPL

Are these two motors identical? I have a 1990 model on my boat, but the powerhead is burnt and it is not worth fixing. I have an opportunity to buy a Johnson 88 SPL from 1987. My qeuetsion is, are these twomotor identical, same power head, same... can I mix and match parts between the two?
