1990 johnson 90hp vro tilt trim problem

ok guys iv got a big problem my tilt trim on my 1990 90hpvro motor was stuffed so i started to pull it off .

iv removed the big pin that runs through the large tilt pump in the middle with a large hammer this was hard as to get off

now there is 6 bolts that holds the trim onto motor bracket they all snapped at the heads due to corrosian:facepalm: how do i get the trim of now do i have to drill the bolts out or is there a easyier way of doing it please please help me im desperate

The best method would have been to use a hand held propane torch on the aluminum surrounding those bolts to help loosen them... but of course this bit of info is hindsight and of no use to you with this present project.

With all of the bolts broken off at the heads, you have your hands full. If it were me, I would remove the engine from the boat. lay it down on its back so that the front is facing up, then remove the transom brackets from the remaining studs. After that you can remove the studs from the PTT unit.

hi thanks for the reply the transom bracket is a single bracket not 2
could i cut through the broken bolts with a grinder i know this would damage the trim unit but its stuffed (throw away )
iv bought a whole new/secondhand unit could this be do-able without taking the motor off if i hack into it with a grinder??
