OK here is my problem... picked this motor up cheap, and turns out wasnt such a good deal... Rebuilt carbs, put new waterpump in, and new t-stats/poppets... Test fired, not one drop comes out tell tale...

Pulled cyl head bypass covers packed SOLID with salt, pulled exhaust plate, packed SOLID with salt, pulled cylinder heads, packed SOLID with salt. When I say packed solid, I mean crystallized solid salt chunks completely blocking all passages, without any possibility of water flowing through...Looks like motor was run in salt water for 20 years and not flushed even once... never ever seen one this bad.

Spent a few weeks cleaning all of this out, and basically did an upper rebuild, New head gaskets, cover gaskets, etc.

Fired it up, and it still over heats... water "trickles" out of the tell tale. and some water comes out of the exhaust now, but where the two holes are on the mid-section where the water normally dumps when t=stats open, nothing.

OK so now my question(s)

1. does anyone have a diagram of just exactly how the water is supposed to flow through the block/heads, etc.?
2. Where else do I need to look for blockage as its obvious something still isnt right?
3. Should I just give up at this point? SOrry i didnt take pics, but i figured all the cleaning I did would take care of things so its already back together.
4.where does the water go from the tube off the water pump into the bottom of the block?
5.I see there is a regulator (alt) where what used to be the "water plate" on the older models... could something else in there be blocked?

Thanks for any help or insight you can provide. THis one is getting aggravating.

If you can find a good local BRP dlr go in and see him. The OEM Factory Service Manuals have good flow charts in them. I believe you have a good one in your area.

if you pull your thermostats and run a hose attached to your water up pipe you might be able to clear some residual blockages. after that flows good put the covers on and blast away again. salt away might help. good luck.

OK thanks, I will give those a try. I am also going to go ahead and pull the regulator and flywheel (so I can see down the hole), and see if something is blocked in there.
