just got this 24' toon boat with a 1990 90 hp vro johnson.Did not know that it had a horn on it till i started reading about it on here. so i pulled the hand control cover of to find that the tan, and two purple wires were sniped. Figers out that the violet with whit stripe went on the ignition switch and that the tan to the horn and solid violet to the + horn. pluged it all up and terned the key wating to hear the horn sound the short start up blast but it did not:confused:

so... i went to the back of the block grounded out the temp...still nothing so then i figerd that the violet was not geting power to the horn. I then ran a jumper from the + on the ignition swich. This made it work:mad: and it gave out a pulsing siren figerd out that its not the temp sencers. Its not the fuel preshure sender.I disco the oil tank wire so its not that. This testing was performed with the key on engine off. what could it be?

EDIT: this has a bran new 4 wire vro pump than the prev owner told us the marina put in

The purple wire should get power from the ignition switch when in on position

the solid violet wire comes out the harnes from the out board is that the right wire to conect to the positive on the horn?

i just bought a new horn and ignition switch from the dealer got it all put back to gether. But it wont cherp when you ternt the key on:confused: it churpes if i run a jumper from the + on the ignition switch.

so why dont the perple from the outboard harnes have power?

The purple wire should be connected to switch termial A , and all purple wires should be hot with key on. Some had jumper from switch to horn.
