I have the above mentioned engine and ignition and ordered a new ignition sensor that goes in the distributor as well as cap, rotor etc... I just want to replace everything since it never has been done since new.
The original sensor in the distibutor had two posts where you screw the white w/red and the white w/green wires to the posts of the sensor with nuts.
The new sensor has the wires as well as the ground wire coming out of the sensor with bullet connectors on the ends of the white wires. The kit comes with two small screws and nuts and two bullet connector ends with terminals to screw together on the ends.
What's the idea here?
Connect the short adapter wires with the bullet connectors on one end and the screw terminals on the other end to the white wires coming out of the sensor and then just screw together the corresponding wires from the TBolt IV box and the white w/green wire from the shift cutout switch?
What's the point of this whole conversion?
Seems like more of a mess to me.
There are also two black heatshrink tubes that came with the kit.
I am assuming I should heatshrink over the screwed together connections once they are made?
I just want to make sure I'm not doing something stupid where there is a much simpler, more obvious way to do this.
It seemed like the sensor with the screw posts seems a lot cleaner and simpler, but what the heck do I know anyway?
Thanks.
