Hi!

Doing an installation on a new boat; trying to complete the trim sender wiring.

I'm trying to reconcile the wiring diagram(s) in my Seloc manual with what I *see* in the motor. I found the trim control wires no problem (they are bundled together and ended near where I route the remote control harness in) but I can't for the life of me find the "brown/white" on the engine side. WHERE should I see this wire?

On a (perhaps) related note, I have a random purple (starboard side, near the top/center) which is unconnected...

Thanks!

Re: 1990 Merc 60hp Trim Sender: Location/wire?

Welcome to iboats.

The Brown/White wire should be sticking out of the main wiring harness near the connector. There'll be a tan wire as well. Possibly even Blue/White, Green/White and Red for the trim system. But the trim gauge really is separate from the rest of the trim system. It ties in along with the rest of the gauges. The trim sender mounts to the swivel bracket where the upper trim/tilt pin connects the tilt ram to the motor. They don't come equipped with these automatically. They need to be purchased and installled separately. The purple wire is an accessory wire that turns on with the ignition switch.

* RE: the brn/wht from the remote, I knew that but thanks for confirming. BTW, what *is* that tan wire for?

* RE: the trim sender being an "extra," *bingo* I think that's the ticket. I don't see anything currently at the location you describe.

* RE: the purple, I figured this morning that it was "extra," thanks for confirming that it is an accessory...

John

PS: WHY don't they ship relevant wiring diagrams with new remotes?!? And in after-market manuals like Seloc, WHY don't they label what harness wires are FOR?!?
