I have a 1990 Merc 25xd on a 16x48 flatbottom, when i bought it i was told the starter was out. he starter was fine but the coils were both swollen and the plug wires were crap. i replaced both coils, plug wires and plugs and it started right up in a barrel.I noticed when pumping the bulb, fuel will pour out of a hole in the carb as as well as the "brass thing" in front of the butterfly. At home i can run this motor perfectly, it idles revs, no issue. When i take it out on the water, the first time it went about 800 yards, ran like a bat out of hell then idled down on its on then died. took it home and sprayed a bunch of carb clean in it and added Seafoam to the fuel then took it back out, had the same thing happen. after it dies it was a bear to restart, had to pull choke out and the lever all the way up then it wouldnt go very far at all. Brought it back home and ordered a carb kit. took it apart and the fuel pump had 1/8" of green slime all over it but the rest looked clean. Replaced the fuel pump diaghpraghmghmggmh and cleaned everything else the best i could. took it back to the lake and it ran a ton better. i wanted to see what it would do so i attempted a WOT run. According to gps it got up to 25mph easily then kinda sputtered, idled down and died. noticed the bulb was pretty soft. Motor started up easliy(with choke) and would run at half speed no issues. Took it back out again yesterday and had my 2 daughters with me, we trolled at 3-4mph for about 3 hours no issues. was very pleased. We decided to check out other areas of the lake and had it up to 22mph(about 3/4 throttle) for probably about a mile or so then it started starving for fuel, noticed inline filter empty as could be, tried to pump it up but it died anyways. took forever for it to restart and then it wouldnt run more than a second. used the trolling motor to go back. the vent is open and clear on the tank, the lines are new, i replaced all the zip ties on the fuel lines with hose clamps, the bulb is new, the fuel is 93 octane with quicksilver and seafoam, the air/fuel needle is all the way in and backed out 1 1/4 turn. the coils, plugs and wires are new, plugs look lean and dry when i check them, water pump is working, i have very minimal experience with outboards, not sure what to do now., ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
