1990 OMC Power Steering Bracket???

I have a 1990 Larson 220, with a 4.3 Volvo Penta, and OMC outdrive. The power steering cylinder had gone bad so we just replaced. The problem is, that the "Bracket" that holds the piston in place broke. The power steering unit is held in place top and bottom by 2 stainless steel bolts that fit in a bushing on either side of the power steering unit on the transom. Apparently the bolts were NOT completely in the holes of the unit and the force of tightening them, caused the top one to break. It looks like the piece that broke is an open rectangle that attaches to the transom and has the power steering brackets built into this. It is directly behind the motor, and has the steering arm of the outdrive coming through it. The piece looks to be Pot Metal or Aluminum. Is the replacement part available? What is is called? Can it be repaired some how?..... and how do I avoid the same problem if I do find one and have to reinstall the power steering assembly?

Any help would be appreciated.

You are looking at the inner transom bracket.
Don't try to fix it. Not a good idea to cobble up the steering system:eek:
Did the same thing when I replaced my transom seals.
Get one off Ebay. Not to costly.
Here is a pic of the bracket.

Yup, That's the part! Now, next question......Can I replace it without pulling the motor or outdrive? Seems like I"d have to pull the Outdrive at least to get the old one off.

Looks like this is going to be fun......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Sorry to break it to ya , but you got to pull the drive and the engine to replace it:(.
You go that far , you might as well put in a transom seal kit and new gimble bearing while your in there. I'd even think seriously about replacing the lower shift cable too!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
Ps: you need to make sure that the end of the bolts that screw to the mount are lined up with the holes in the steering ram body.
