1990 Pleasure Craft Model #PLDWVR20 351 V8 240 HP sounds and runs great. But lately it cuts out at high speed and stalls when warm. It starts back up after a pause.

Replaced the fuel filter/water seperator, but that didn't help. I don't trust points and condensor style ignition and am thinking of replacing them. But then I don't know anything of these engines.

Any insights would be muchly appreciated.

Could be vapor lock. Check anti-syphon valve.Possibly fuel pump. Needle and seat and or sticky float. Just some ideas

Re: 1990 Pleasure Craft cuts out

Thanks for the reply. I ruled out vapor lock an anti-siphon valve because it does not remain stalled for long (max. 2 minutes). But I have been debating about fuel pump or gunky carburator issues also. I'm leaning towards ignition because it is like someone briefly turned off the key. There is no backfiring or popping through the carb.

I'm just guessing here.
