All,
I have a 1990 Tracker Party Barge.

The Pontoon recently was re-boarded (marine), new carpet, and a bunch of the upholstery replaced. The original center console was disassembled. The main steering and electrical component set aside and a new console structure rebuilt (marine ply) and reupholstered in the same floor carpet. Then the components were put back and hooked up (steering, throttle, etc.) minus the electrical. The previous wiring was like a rats nest (splices for different equipment). most of the wiring main components (fuse panel, engine cables, battery connections) are still there but some of the minor electrical layout has been lost.

I have electrical experience (college level classes) as well as general understanding electrical systems/tools (not a professional electrician). Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate any diagrams for this pontoon. I did stumble upon the mention that many early boats were harnessed bought with the designs not being given/kept by the boat manufacturer. The sticky for the forum much of the images and such or no longer operable. (missing images etc)

So If anyone has a diagram of a 1990ish Tracker or later pontoon I would greatly appreciate the help.

If only a general diagram that would be a great starting point....Trying to avoid the splice mess I currently have inherited so to speak.

Thanks,
Chris

Instrument panel wiring for your pontoon is very generic so virtually any instrument panel wiring diagram for nearly any boat will work. Wiring for your specific engine will be contained in the service manual for your specific engine. Faria and Teleflex (instrument manufacturers) have diagrams for instrument wiring on their web site. The easiest way to figure this out is to use one of the instrument wiring digrams to get that instrument installed, The next instrument is then wired off the first, the third off the second and so on. The only thing that changes with each gauge is the "sender" connection for fuel, oil pressure (if used), water temperature (if used) trim (if used) and tachometer (if used). Each of those connections requires a separate connection to wherever the corresponding sender is located (fuel tank or engine). The speedometer is water pressure driven so there is no electrical sender involved. Voltmeters do not need a sender either -- just +12 volts, ground, and light, like all the other gauges.

Silvertip,
Thanks for the reply!

I looked at a few Faria and Teleflex installation guides and I do not see any wire gauge size suggestions.

I was wondering do you happen to know the gauge of wire that is commonly used for the instrument panel and the lights?

I believe the lights I can go a "size up" from what I have left as basically all I have is the lights and about a foot of wire. (The length of pontoon and run may play a factor).

Thanks,
Chris

16 gauge is fine for instruments. Any heavier makes it difficult to do neat work with tight bend radius.
