I bought a book but it's a 92 model with the thunderbolt ignition mine is Prestolite. On the timing the thunderbolt shows cranking at 32 to get 30 degrees at running. I have no clue if mine is the same. I see 28 degrees all over the place so I am here to make sure.
Also on adjusting idle on the 92 manual it says remove the throttle link from tower and adjust roller to center between marks. I guess that is the standard adjustment and then you reconnect the link and adjust the idle to 750 in gear on water. Any way to temporarily adjust it out of the water?

It may be that there is an issue with your motor.----I would start the trouble shooting with a compression test.--Post the numbers you get.---Timing on these does not go out of adjustment.---I would not start adjusting timing at this point.

Issue with the motor? Nah
It's a dual engine and one engine was running at 2500 RPM. Not knowing where the idle adjustment bolt was like a moron I messed with the timing bolt. So I have to do timing.
It turned out to be the lower carb plate was not in sync with the top one and I had to loosen the tie bar and bring it back to position. But I already screwed up the timing. The other engine had the timing at around 25BTDC so not all that great. Drove the boat and was fine last year, could have more power that's why I need to go through this. Will do the compression too.
It should not be a big deal I just don't have the specs for the Prestolite ignition. My manual mentions only the thunderbolt from 1992 and it's cranking timint 32 degrees.
I am looking for a manual online but all I found is the books that include every year or every model like Clymer Force Outboard 90HP (1984 - 1999) or SELOC force Outboards 1984-99 Repair Manual 1100 3-150 HP, 1-5 Cylinder Models which includes the Prestolite ignition

OK I just got a picture sent from one guy with one of the manuals and the 120HP that has the Prestolite ignition needs to adjust to 28BTDC. The thunderbolts are at 32BTDC. That is great to know. I initially put it at 32 but did not run or turn it on. I will go change and do the compression.

You were right cyl number 2 read 0 or 5 compression on one engine and 110 on the other. Is this a headgasket issue or piston rings and/or cylinder. All the rest read between 125(1 and 4) and 128(for the number 3). The plate on the lower carb was causing the 2500 RPM but cyl is bad. I have to get it done, I have all the tools and have done this before on 2 stroke Yamahas, and a bunch of cars. It sucks but I don't want to get a new engine right now. If I do change I will remove the 2 and put a 240HP I think that's the max.
I can probably try using Amsoil Carb Foan to get the carbon off on the second engine that should equalize the loer cyl to the others somewhat.
On the 0 compression there might be a head gasket that went bad, maybe.

So I opened it up and the piston in number 2 had some damage from the knocking. Maybe I should start thread with that problem
