run it for 2 hours half trottle went to dock to eat lunch
started it back up would not start same thing all over again
got it started and loaded it on the trailer

brought it home check all coils and replaced the champs with ngk plugs
the carbs are leaking gas out the front of them i believe checke comp

I'm not a mechanic and its difficult to understand your writing, English is not your language?

Anyway, I wouldn't go boating until the engine is fixed.
If my overheat alarm went off I wouldn't run it for 2 hrs, I'd bring ti home and fix the problem.

What I would do...?

Have you tried de-carbing the cylinders with sea foam?
It might bring up the low compression cylinder.

NGK plugs are thought to be bad for the Johnsons, I wouldn't use them.

On the lower gear box, milky oil (water) can be caused by the small round gasket seal on the fill screws, mine was milky , I changed the oil and installed new seals and that fixed it. Get some new seals ($1 each) and change the oil.

Get a factory manual from kencook.com
Order rebuild kits for the carbs, it took me 2 hrs to rebuild all 6, just be sure to make absolutely sure the jets are clear, use a small wire to run through the jets. Don't just spray carb cleaner, thats not enough.
I ordered my carb kits from this website, good price and service.
Go through the whole engine, remove and clean all grounds and connections from the battery to the exhaust.

If the compression doesn't come up after using sea foam, pull the head and check for damage, it could also be a leaking head gasket.
Get it right , they are good engines.

Re: 1990 vro questions 150 hp

i am thinking about saving the money to buy a new etec any thoughts would be apreaciated

srry about the english i was typing fast

i have already sprayed seafoam through the carb and have also put some in the gas

the had been extreamly overheated before i got it bout it came with a bueatiful boat and trailer couldnt find a better deal

now it does have a fuel water seaperator on it and i have heard that it can cause probs for the v6s and v8

but i think the water pump is going cause when on a plane it does not pump water very efficently at all bearly sprays out

Re: 1990 vro questions 150 hp

Spray seafoam directly into the cylinders and let soak 15 minutes, run on a hose and re-test compression.

if #3 has new piston and rings, has it broken in yet?

If you prefer the Etec, who wouldn't,
put a water pump kit in and run it to death.

You've already got a good engine, get it running right.

Have you considered pulling the head and checking the cylinder walls?
Maybe the head gasket is leaking etc.
