1990 XP Power-head to exhaust gasket

[Okie]

I replaced this gasket twice part no.0335503 by how the manual says too. It starts leaking again after a few trips.Have re-torqued after cooled down.I must be doing something wrong.Need help please. Thank you, Okie

Where is it leaking? If its leaking in the front, the exhaust housing may be cracked or split in the corner. Usually the front port corner cracks first. <br /><br />Good luck!

i had same prob on mine, but mine is a 50 hp... never the less.. take out your inner exhaust plate.. mine was rotten in the bottom corner allowing water to get in places it shouldnt have been getting... just mny 2 cents<br /> mikey<br />phatmanmike@yahoo.com

It is leaking used oil from the gasket area, but do not know if block is cracked or exhaust adapter is cracked. 150 HP Thank you, Okie

Once you get the powerhead off and verify its leaking from the front corner, you may be able to seal it. Its very difficult to get it clean enough to get a sealer to adhere to it. Ususally the exhaust carbon is embedded into the aluminum and is very difficult to weld also.<br /><br />The next time you have the powerhead off take a look and see if thats where its coming from.

There was a special gasket made for some cross flow V6s. Cant tell which engine you have.
