1990 Yahama 200 HP No High Speed

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help with anissue I am having. The motor starts and idles fine. The problem is I have no high speed...from time to time when trying to increase speedthe engine will surge alsmot like it is trying to "break" through into high speed.

Compression was checked was about 125 psi. Pulled the plugs and one looked like it was not firing. Do you think the problem can be a bad coil? If so, how can the coil be tested?

Any help would be greated appreciated.

I have been cruising the forum for the lasthour or so and noticed that alot of No Power/ No High speed problem is usually a fuel problem. Can anyone let tme know the order of things to check and what to check..fuel pump? carbs? etc.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be great


Also...what would be the best service manual to get?
