1990's 30 EVINRUDE FUEL ISSUE

GOOD MORNING!
i have to squeze the primer bulb to keep it running:mad:
when i take the fuel line off the bottom of the fuel pump and squeze the bulb it will push gas thru the pump, but when i turn the motor over no gas thru the pump? i took the pump apart (very carefully) & all looked good.
not sure if a new pump might fix it.

heres my concerns;
gas tank issue = highly doubt?
hose issue = squezed the bulb off the motor and is air tight (no leaks)
pump issue = sure seems to be it, but all looked fine inside

could there be something i need to try or do to help diagnose the problem
all suggestions needed,

thanks, Dew

Not sure if I will get yelled at for this, but to check the pump I'd pull the outlet hose off (not off the pump, but off wherever it goes to), stick it in a mason jar, and turn the engine over. Fuel should come spurting out. If not, something is wrong with the pump.

Those fuel pumps are pretty reliable. Most of the time the problem is elsewhere. When was the last time the carburetor was rebuilt? With the ethanol in today's gas, all kinds of crude can get stuck in there.

That's a perfectly legit fuel pump test around here. No worries.

I'd do the same before going much further.

Re: 1990's 30 EVINRUDE FUEL ISSUE

THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY!

i just bought the boat. put new gas & plugs in, took it to the lake, squezed gas into the carb and she ran great:) till the carb emptied:(
squezed it full again and same thing:mad:

took the boat home;
pulled the fuel line off the fuel pump and i can hand squeze gas thru the pump but it wont push gas thru with the motor cranking over.

how much pressure should it take for the pump to push gas thru?
maybe the cheap plastic gas tank & hose might be clogged just enuf that doesnt allow the pump to work but still allows me to squeze it thru?

keep the reply's comming, i very much appreciate the help!!

THANKS, Dew
