I have a 1991 Force 150 HP Outboard that run greats, the lower unit needs to be sealed as some water is getting in & I have to keep changing the gear oil. The dealer said he doesn't have parts for motors that old. He also said there's a metal plate inside, if that breaks during the repair the motor is useless as that part can't be replaced.

What are my options?

First you need to find out which seal is leaking. The drive shaft seal or the prop shaft seal. You can do a simple pressure test to locate the leaky seal.

Not if it's only the drive shaft seal. The prop shaft requires more work and if not leaking should be left alone. Although if you have the time and knowledge, then maybe you can do both. But personally, if it's just the vertical drive shaft seal I would just do that by itself.

Pressure test first.
Might be something simple like the seals for the drain/fill??
