Hello

New to outboards...this board has been so helpful already, I cant wait till I get smart enough to give back!

1991 200 mariner

I took my 23 ft proline out and as soon as I gave it gas the warning alarm went off. I have two gauges and one of them was reading hot but the other was not. Is that normal? If my impeller is bad would both gauges read hot? The temp went up just enough to set off the alarm. I backed off and the alarm went silent. But it did it again and I shut it down.

There was a steady stream of water from the telltale.

any thoughts
Thanks
Jim

If you have a steady steam of water from the telltale it is doubtful that the impeller is the problem. Has your thermostat and popit valve been checked or replaced recently. One of these may be your issue as they rust and clog w/ salt/sand. A steady stream doesn't rule out these problems. It is also possible your warning horn is malfunctioning.
