Jessie, where are you looking for the spark, because you won't see anything in the spark plug if it's not grounded.

The easiest way to check for spark is to go get a spark tester at an auto part store.

What else is going on when you are trying to start? Does your primer bulb get hard, are the carbs flooding, is the choke/primer working?

You might try disconnecting the plug to the remote console and jumping again. If it starts you may have a problem with the kill circuit or the neutral sensor. You'll need to choke it to kill the motor though.

the primer gets hard, but after i try to start it, i checked it and it was soft again, is this normal. it also smokes out of the foot when it is turning over

Inside your motor, usually around the starter someplace, you'll see a big plug that will disconnect the wires in your motor from the harness that leads to the remote control. Not sure about '91 but the earlier ones are red. Disconnect this, and jump power to the starter to spin it. You can do this with the plugs out and just check for spark.

This will disable all the kill circuits and the neutral sensor switch, so if your motor starts this way, you'll have to flood it to get it to stop.
