Ok, so i fixed the check engine light on pop's 130, we go take our boats out yesterday, now my 200hp is having issues.
I can run about a mile and it falls into SLOW mode, shaking like crazy, only getting about 2200-2400 rpms.
From what i can see,fuel flow is great, cylinder heads are warm, not hot, when this happens.

any ideas?

I also broke the plastic knob for the idle timing, does anyone have this laying around?

Re: 1991 200hp S.L.O.W.

S.L.O.W. is initiated when one of the temperature switches in the cylinder heads closes and indicates that one of the cylinder heads has reached 203? F. You should have a constant warning horn at the same time.

If S.L.O.W. is initiated when the engine is not overheated, one of the following is possible:

The temperature switch has failed or is failing;

You have a short to ground in the tan wires;

A blocking diode in the harness has failed;

The powerpack is failing.

There is also the possibility that your shift assist switch is unstable and is cutting in and out, or, that you have a short in your kill wiring, ignition switch or emergency kill switch.

I now have the powerhead off and on the bench, since I am
having issues, I will go ahead and replace the waterpump and the upper
motormount, as it needs replaced. The powerpack is a new cdi
unit, less than a month old, and I see no where that anything
may be grounded out. Where is this blocking diode located, and
where can I get it?
If I remove the shift assist, will it hurt my motor?

The motor is sloppy , the hyd. Steering is tight, the motor will shake side to side effortlessly.
I want solid mounts, but can't seem to find them.

The blocking diode is in the main engine harness, tan wire, 24-1/2 inches from the edge of the large red plug. When functional, it prevents the VRO and vacuum switch signals from reaching the powerpack and giving a false overheat signal.

You can test with an ohmmeter without digging into the harness. Disconnect battery and test the tan wire from the plug to the powerpack. You should get a reading in one direction, none in the other.

There is a repair kit available from your dealer with instructions if the diode is damaged.

The shift assist is there to ease shifting when coming out of forward gear. It works by grounding out half of the cylinders via the powerpack. Without it, it can be much more difficult to shift so you need to exercise caution as when approaching a dock, for example.

Be very very careful putting solid mounts in that motor. If you do put in a solid upper keep a close eye on the stern brackets, especially the port one. Watch for a verticle split.
