1991 4.3L OMC Cobra Manifold Drain Petcock leaking

Ran the boat on the muffs but found that that right side manifold drain petcock is leaking right down the middle hole. It is a brass fitting with a hole in the middle all the way through until that hole meets another hole on the nipple after the threading. I've got it in all the way and the water is draining right through the middle. I've tried to put it in more loosely etc. No luck. Also, i know it's not the block because i put my finger over the hole and it doesn't leak. The petcock doesn't appear to be damaged at all. Any help is appreciated.

You might need to put alittle Thread Sealant on it......

Might be a little something up in the brass fitting the petcock threads into that is stopping the petcock from seating properly, too.

it seems like it's leaking right through the hole in the middle. by thread sealant do you mean teflon tape?

If it's leaking Thru the Fitting,...... It's Bad......

Get another 1 at your local Hardware Store.......

I would just unthread the petcock itself and clean the fitting and the backside of the petcock.

if it's the fitting that leaks. maybe ya could replace it with just a plug. i don't like my t-fitting on my block as i can't ream it out to be sure i have no blockage whilest draining the block....just food for thought......

Many times just a piece of rust gets in and cleaning it stops the leaking.I have had brand new ones leak after the first drain of the manifolds...just full of rust..
