I own a 1991 40 hp johnson 2 stroke outboard with the vro plugged. the motor seems to start and run very well. On ocassion I have found the motor will not restart after it is warm and been sitting off for a little while. Trying some trouble shooting ideas I have found that by moving the red lever on the primer solenoid up (perpendicular from normal) the motor will start right away and run perfect. Normally it starts fine, but on these rare ocassions when it refuses, I flip the lever and it fires right up. Could this be a sign that the primer is going bad, or perhaps clogged... any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. thanks for all the great info on this forum!!
