91 40 hp mariner running problems ....help?
i have a 91 40hp mariner on my boat that ran fine and at the end of last fall it just did not want to run well at all
it would die and was really hard to get started back up i was thinking the carbs needed cleaned and this year i get it out and start looking in to the problem and it will not start at all now and it looks like it has a very rich mix of oil/gas running from the back of the carbs is the auto oil injector over mixing?how can i hunt my problem down i have a manual on the way just looking for good some tips.thanks in advance for any help i can get

Clean or replace the spark plugs and hook up some new gas and try again, you've likely assessed correctly and the carbs need a cleaning.

40 hp Mariner...Mine Floods Easy...Flip Fast Idle Throttle lever all the way UP...1 pump ONLY W/Bulb to Start...IF you have Fresh Gas, a Clean Tank, Good plugs, Clean carbs...Should go well..These 40 hp models Flood easy...don't over squeeze that bulb...My 2 cents

If this is using a seperate automatic mixing unit called ----" auto blend " ---It should be removed and thrown away as far as you can.------Then mix yourself at 50:1 on this motor.
