I just took my new(new too me)boat out for the second time. First time, ran like a charm. The second time it took awhile to start, not sure if I pumped enough gas into it before starting. I did change the fuel filter before the 2nd trip. After getting it started, it ran well for 30 - 40 minutes, on and off a few times. Then I started it and the horn sounded. I turned it off, looked at the owners manual, wasn't sure what happened. Started the engine and it ran fine. After a few minutes of running near full throttle, it stalled and stopped running. It would start again but after a couple minutes of running, it would loss power and stall. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I check fuel lines, and didn't see any leaks. Your help would be appreciated.

Als, I did notice that when I tuched the top of the motor cover, it seemed pretty hot? Although, it was a very hot day.

First check for lack of fuel. When it stalls, try pumping the primer bulb. If that helps, it could be a restriction in the fuel line or dirty carbs.

Another thing is the spark plugs. When were they replaced last? Plugs sometimes die a slow death and on a twin a dying plug is enough to cause the feeling of big power loss. Be sure to buy the correct range Champion plug for your motor. Don't get the high speed plug if you don't run WOT for long periods of time. If you run on and off, half to 3/4 throttle, use the standard QL78YC plug. I reciently had crummy performance from 1 season old plugs. A fresh set cured the problem.

The plugs are new and are the standard QL78YC. I checked the fuel lines and there are no visible restrictions. What can be done for dirty carbs? Would using engine tuner help?
