My motor locked in reverse the other day on the river and would not start being in gear. I thought something was jammed in the lower unit so i ripped it off and as soon as i did that i noticed the cams hooked up to the shifting/throttle cables skipped a tooth somehow. so i fixed that and it shifts perfect everything was good to go but when i put the lower unit back on and put it in some water it will not pump water to the motor. I also removed the thermostat to make sure it would push water right away. Any one else have a problem with it not sealing back up on top of the water pump to that rubber boot that supplies the engine with water? Any help would be appreciated. or any ideas what could be wrong. Everything was installed the way it came apart and I also used gasket sealer to make sure everything sealed back up. I get water on the bottom pushing out but none pushing out the top so Im guessing its not sealing where the boot is attached to the water pump? Is there a way to remove the boot so i can seal it to the water pump and put the lower unit back on or any ideas?
