So when I got my boat the last owner threw in an impeller kit I'd like to swap it as I'm guessing it's never been done. Or it's been a while

I watched this video
https://youtu.be/Hv8gXqsO2fg

And it all seems very straight forward. Except on mine the vro pump restricts access to he shift linkage on the port side.

Can it still be done without removing the vro ?

Will post pics later if needed

It looks like the kit had a thermostat in it as well. Is it worth swapping at the same time ?

Thanks

??---You are looking / working on the wrong side of the motor.----Remove a hitch pin on the starboard side and push the shift shaft to the port side.----Rotate that shaft and shift rod is disconnected.-----The VRO is NOT in the way at all !!

I'm more concerned about lining everything up when it's time to reassemble it all
I understand it all comes apart on the starboard side

Move the wiring harnesses away from the airbox by the VRO and you can see the linkages. Or take the airbox off because the linkage is behind the bottom carb.

On mine ,95' 70 Rude , I remove the air box as ,mentioned above, and the starter to get a cleaner look when lining back up for reassembly.

Awesome. Thanks guys will look into removing air box to get it back together.
I'm not worried about taking it apart. It's putting that shift linkage back on that looks like the hardest part so wanted answers before I took it apart and then had to tell the wife I can't get the new boat back together lol

And I usually do all my own mechanical work so no way I'm paying someone to do this.

I picked up some gear oil today too I'm gunna change the leg oil in both motors soon too apparently was last done 3~ years ago

Taking her out again tomorrow first though

Thanks again and if I have anymore questions I will ask again

I've seen this mentioned in my reasearch. By top do you mean very top ?
I think it comes off the side but very near the top.
I will post a pic later for you

Edit. I just took a quick look. It is off the top

Does the tell tale fitting come off the side of the block or the top of the block ??

Still haven't gotten to doing this. But I do want to do leg oil soon too.
Everything I read says to change the crush washers behind the vent and drain hole when I do the leg oil.

Anyone have size or link to said parts ?

Thanks
