1991 Force 150

I purchased a Boat that has a Force 150, the engine turns over but is pumping fuel out of to of the Carbs, I plan on rebuilding all the Carbs. In the purchase the owner also noted that the engine was stalling, I can only assume at this point that it is the carbs, but he metioned also a vaccum leak any advice would be apprecaiated at this point. First outboard that I am diving into, so take it easy on a rookie.

I think you should start with a service manual.Then do the carbs.If you don't know when the impeller was done last you should change it.If the motor has been sitting around a lot you should go through the fuel system with special attention to cleaning. You should change the lower unit lube. If the lube is milky you probably need to change the seals.You could change just the gaskets on the drain and vent screws refill and check it again after
5 or 10 hours of use.Be sure to remove only the larger flat head drain and vent screws not the povot pin.Your manual should cover these procedures.

Thank you steelespike, I failed to note I have the service manual and started looking at it last night. I will address all items that you brought up, thank you for the insight and look foward to a education in outboards.8)

Because motor is new to you I would get a compression tester and test that first. Pretty easy to dump a couple hundred dollars into a motor that has a bad cylinder and then find the bad cylinder. Before investing any money do compression and spark test then decide where to go from there.
