Me and my father bought a 1991 Force 50hp outboard as a backup motor the person we bought it from didn't know a thing about engines. We replaced all the wear and tear items but the spark plugs are NGK BUHXW-I from previous owner and our other force 1994 50hp runs on Champion L76V's. Should our 1991 force be running the champion L76V's or are the NGK plugs fine?

I think the plug you mentioned is a resistor plug. It will not hurt the engine, but may affect performance. If you do not have electronic interference, the correct plug should be: NGK BUHW, Champion L76V, (Mercury plug) Or the older Champion L20V.There is also an Autolite plug but I forget the number
