Hi! All.
Starting a new 1991 Force 150:
I finally finished replacing the entire electronics and the water pump, and took it to the river today. Great running machine. But,
1) 4100 RPM max ?
2) 41mph max, ah but smoooooth.
3) from the getgo, no power.
I'm told that I should see 55+ mph
After about 4 hours of running and 1/2 a tank of gas later, the motor just jumped upto 58mph for a minute or two (when I maxed the throttle, I throttled back and when I maxed it again 42mph max. (What a feeling at 58mph!!! ).
Anyone have an idea of where I should start to look?
Fuel/carbs problem maybe???
It is a three carb engine.
Maybe a stuck fuel float????
BTW, I never could get it to do that again. :(
Comments.... Ideas.....

Thanks all
Ken Z.

happyzee -
Did you run the boat for 4 1/2 hours straight? Have you checked the fuel pump diaphram? I had a similar problem a couple of years back when I bought my engine. It sat through a few seasons with out running, first time out blew a hole throught the diaphram it was so dry-rotted. (quarter sized hole)
Check if the carbs are spilling an unusual amount of gas. Good luck.

I would think one cylinder is not working, and probably not sparking either.
