Just bought a pontoon with a 50hp Johnson 1991 and first day out no problems. Second day out I am getting a warning horn randomly and it is sort of pulsing. I turn off the engine and start it right back up and it goes away for awhile. How can I tell if this is overheat or oil. Now I just had where it came on solid and would not stop after I resarted the engine.

Thanks
Mike

A steady tone is an indication of engine overheating bubbless. Maybe should check the condition of the water pump impeller and t-stat. Being this is a new engine to you, you might want to give the whole rig a going over.

You have two pulsing alarms. One warns of low oil reservoir level....it's a 1/2 sec tone every 20sec or so. The other warns of restricted or no oil flow. That alarm is an urgent 1/2 sec ton every 1/2 sec tone.
