I have a 1991 50 HP 3 Cyl. Mariner engine we bought used. The motor had good even compression in the cylinders so we are using it on a 16 Ft boat we put together. The engine needed some minor wiring repaired under the cowling and some repairs to the oil tank. On our test run I ran 50 to 1 pre mix in the boats tank as well as oil in the injection system because I didn'r know the condition of the injection system. the oil tank was about 1/3 full of oil. The test run showed that the engine ran pretty well. After some time the alarm in the control box started beeping and would not stop. At this point we loaded up the boat and brought it home so I could check out the alarm situation. After some reading I determined the beeping was the low oil alert. Inspection of the oil tank showed that the oil level had gone down in the tank (I had marked the level with a some tape) and the oil was pretty low. So I added a quart of oil to the tank and started the motor but the alarm still beeps. I then did some wiring checks and when I unplug a brown wire the alarm beeping stops. Their are two different brown wires. One from the Temp. sender on the head and one from a module on the bottom of the engine on the right side. The brown wire from this module is what is activating the alarm. I know the oil injection is working because the level in the tank went down. Once you run the injection oil level low enough to activate the alarm, what do you have to do to get the alarm to stop. I put some oil in the tank, but do you need to fill it completely to get the alarm to stop?

Is it a intermittent beep or a solid beep?
