Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be with a stalling engine. The following happens.

1-Engine take a wile to start...to many cranks
2-After its starts it runs fine for a few minutes then it stalls for no reason at around 2500-3000 rpm. when I try to start up again..forgeit I have to wait 30 minutes before the cicle starts again.

last year I did not have this proble, it just started to happen after I put the boat in the water for the first time this year.

Also...to much smoke. I'm concerm becouse last year the engine ran like a charm and did not consume a drop of oil??? Could something had happend during the winter sotorage??

Please help:confused:

What have you done in the way of preventive maintenance? Tuneups, fuel filter changes, was the engine winterized properly, or just drained and put away? Did you check to see if the choke is working properly?

You may also have problems with your boats fuel system (Before the pump)
Here is a test for that.

Did you make sure your spark plug wires are on properly? Probably the simplest area to start and can very easily cause tremendous problems.

Re: 1991 Mercruiser 4.3L V6 Stalling

Hey everyone,

Ok...fuel pump is working properly, tested and all ok. I started to look at the carb and noticed that during run all of the sudden the gas gets cut off to the engine. Im sure somethings up with the carb. I want to a Carb repair kit but I'm not sure of what model to get. Can someone please tell me what kit I need for a 1990 Mercruiser 4.3L V6 2 BBL. Thanks:confused:

I'd be looking at the tank, vent, anti siphon valve & filters before tearing into the carb......
I would try a portable tank with a couple of gallons of fresh fuel & see if it happens....
There is a big difference with respect to demand between running with a load & with out......;)
