1991 Mercury 200

My motor shakes terribly between 1300 rpm and about 2000 rpm. We have tried all kinds of carburator tricks with no luck. Someone mentioned a bent prop shaft. We bought the motor with a rebuilt powerhead, so we don't know its history. Any thoughts?

Spin that prop and look at the shaft from the rear..... You will know if it is bent. If it looks and spins fine, then I would move to the powerhead. I would run a compression check on the motor to make sure your dealing with a good motor. Then I would move to timing..... Then to fuel......Post results...
