Hey, i want your guy's opinion on something.

we have a 1991 North River boat, its the equivelant of the modern day sportster, for a comparison

back when we got it, apparently, the whole electrical system was grounded directly to the hull, well, after 17 years of repairs, addons, and a new engine, we took it in for a couple fixes, and the mechanic pointed out that we have a huge problem, the engine, and most of the electrical system is grounded to the hull, causing the entire hull to corrode heavily.

we occasionally take it out in saltwater (we have a heat exchanger) but mostly we use it in freshwater, the mechanic said that if we dont rewire the boat, and pull the engine to put spacers in, we are gonna have a big problem in a couple years, he also said that this repair would cost around 5000 dollars.

their reccomendation is to sell the boat now, while it floats.

is this a legitimate amount to charge, is it that big of an issue, and we have had people try to con us out of our boat before, saying, oh theres this huge problem, you can trade it in and get one of our new boats.

thanks for everything,
