1991 OMC 4.3 will not shift into forward

Hello, I had to remove my lower unit to replace a seal last year now my boat will only shift into reverse and not go into forward. Did I mess something up with the shift linkage and will have to take the outdrive off again or would I be able to adjust the cables?

Sounds like your lower shift cable needs to get adjusted into spec.

Did it ever work after the fix?
The shift mechanism in the bell housing could be binding or a bent bellcrank.
Take it apart and clean the bellcrank area.
The moisture gets in the end of the crank and causes corrosion and builds up and can cause that problem.
Maybe a new shift cable?
