My name is Shane and id like to start of by saying hello to all of you. Ive been doing alot of reading and video watching here and looks to me this is the place where i will be for the upcoming winter. Two weeks ago i bought my first boat. 1991 sea ray 200 bowrider with 5.7 merc alpha1. We have taken this boat out about 6 times in the last week and seems to run very well, im in no way near expert. Thats why im so glad i found this board. Im scared and excited about the project i will be starting soon... new floor. Only a few small soft spots, but after hours of reading i now know that most likely everything will need replaced under that floor. Im not a carpenter by trade but i can read and follow directions. So i feel this is do able. I paid 5k for this boat and trailer so i think im staring off well. Only the engine cover needs recovered and that is wicked easy stuff for me, ive done plenty of interior work on a few show cars ive had. So in short im looking for encourageing words on how "easy" floor and most likely stringer/transom repair will be. I had no clue what a "stringer" even was till last week searching these boards last week. I dont have many pics yet but will keep posting till i hopefully get done this next spring. Looking foreward to all your great advise and help! Thanks to all who make these boards work!

Re: 1991 sea ray 200 bowrider

first off, welcome to iBoats...your home away from home....
if you read many of the resto threads on here, you can see that it is not "hard" to replace decks, stringers and transoms....just time and materials and $$....but we are here to help you through the process...

when your ready to post pictures, please read through the sticky thread at the beginning of the forum. this has a section that describes one of the better ways to post photos in your thread....we love pictures

Re: 1991 sea ray 200 bowrider

I have decided to go it the easy route ... gonna let a place in West Frankfurt Illinois "wounded rig" work on my deck and stringers. A friend if mine had his 1996 sea ray 26' cuddy redone by them and they did it for 2000. I think ill work a few extra days and let the pros handle this one.
