Hi Guys, I just picked up a 1991 Starcraft 14ft boat.
Its blue, with silver alum showing on the bottom.
There appear to be 2 flares on each side, I guess to push water away.
What is the model name of this boat?
Any help is appreciated.

Got any pics? I can't quite see it from here. Glass or aluminum?

with that new a boat, you might even be able to get the info from Starcraft. but measure the boat....exact length at centerline, beam, transom height and width etc. you can then compare those dimensions with those of the various 14'ers that SC has made to see what you got. they vary by a lot in terms of dimensions and weight depending on their intended application.

pics would not only be helpful on your Q but keep us in our tin porn :D

Sorry, all I took right now was a quick pic of the bow port side.

On the side is says 14 LW

I also noticed today that some water pools up in the bottom. We have a plywood floor on it, and I drained all the water out. I am guessing some high grade silicone around everything (rivets, seams) should do the trick?

Yep, it's a 14 LW according to the brochures. No 1991, so I looked in the 1995 set.

When is the water getting in and do you cover the boat?

Is the water under th plywood? Is it getting water in it from actually being used ON the water?
Is the plywood treated or just bare plywood?
Silicone is not the answer in any instance...

Re: 1991 Starcraft 14ft

Its treated plywood, the boat is made out of alum.
The water is slight, but comes in as we are on the water.
Today we took it out on the Hackensack River (NJ) and went a total of 2 hours. Its not alot of water, but there is a little pooling at the back of the boat.
There is a drain plug, and a live well that sucks water in via a pump attached to the battery.

As far as storage, its in my garage, totally indoors when not in use.
I was just going to silicone everthing, seams, rivets, etc.

It has a 1985 Johnson 20 on it, and that thing runs like a champ.

DO NOT USE SILCONE!

You can use 3m5200 but never use silicone because IT WILL FAIL

Gluvit is the best sealer for the rivets and seams and should be applied from the inside.

I hope you meant marine plywood and not treated plywood. If it is treated plywood you need to get rid of that since treated plywood will eat the aluminum.

OK, I am going to have to check on what type of plywood is in there. The guy who had it before me treated the boat and motor pretty well.
Is there anyway I can check the difference between treated and marine?
thanks alot for the heads up.
I gotta say, this is a great community.

Re: 1991 Starcraft 14ft

OK, so I just sealed all the seams up with the 5200. And I did some rubberizing in the back by the transom. I will take the boat out later this week and report back.
I basically ran a bead all along the seam inside and out. I did not do the rivets.
I will report back as this week is supposed to be 65dg on thursday.
