My volvo penta will not fire......what gap do you use to set the points? Whats the firing order and location of number one piston. Can someone help with this???

Your question belongs in the inboard/outboard section, I think.

Yes I believe that is an I/O. post in the I/O section and take a look on the net.Can't speak for the Volvo but in the old days number one was at the flywheel end.The cap may be labeled.Some of the info may be on a label on the motor.
I think .020 will get you started on the point settiing.
If your desperate and the distributor is installed right you can pull the plugs, hand crank and the terminal the rotor is approaching on the compressioin stroke is the next to fire.
