I have to recharge my battery about once a month. I am pretty sure my connections are good. Anybody have any idea's on where I should start to look?

Check the battery voltage when the engine is revving say 2000rpm or higher (under load of course). Should be about 13.5V. This will give you an indication whether your charging circuit (stator winding & rectifer/regulator) is working.

Is your tach working OK? This is driven from the same circuit as your battery charger. If not either your stator or rectifer/regulator could be faulty.

thanks for the reply. tach works ok, although once in a while it drops to zero. generally comes back quickly, that seems like a loose connection. It is not a common thing.

Thanks, I keep two batteries on the boat, both are new this year and are good. But it happened last year on two different batteries too, so I know that isn't the problem.
