I broke my 91 Yamaha 250 and picked up a used 93 250. I was going to put my 91 carbs on it and noticed that the 93's have an extra nozzle on the inlet side of each carb and an extra hose on the outside.

Why did Yam add these and will my 91's work?

Thanks

I believe the 91 and 93 are somewhat different engines. Looking at the parts diagrams online there are a few differences in the carbs and they do carry a different part number for 93 and up for sure. I didnt check 92 though. I actually have a set of the correct carbs for the 93. I was going to replace the carbs on a 225 I have and make it into a 250, but repowered the boat with 4strokes instead. Let me know.

in trying to make the engine more efficient and maybe burn less fuel the jetting was changed and an extra high speed nozzle added.
the needle you see and the fuel supply hose to it are designed to add fuel over 7/8ths throttle opening.
can you swap them out?
beats me never tried it.
dunno why but its funny to say fuel efficiency and 250 carbed two stroke in the same sentance.

Thanks rodbolt

I think the powerhead is the same so I'm going to use my 91 carbs for now and rebuild the 93s later.

I will be glad to hear that it worked. Under the same circumstances, I'd try it. Good luck

I haven't started it yet but the 91 carbs bolted right up.
