1992 200GT, last couple of times out I have had a no fire issue when attempting to start motor after it has been sitting for a couple of weeks. At first I thought perhaps it was not spinning fast enough, because it would start if battery was recharged. Perhaps that was pure luck, because last time I recharged, still no fire. Seems to have a mind of its own, as I can turn key, no fire, wait a few minutes, turn key, starts right up. After initial start, no problems, even if I let it sit overnight. Let it sit a couple of days, and start the process all over. Originally thought bad battery, so replaced 750 CCA battery with 1200 CCA, same problem. What could this be?

pull red plug to main harness check motor at selinod if the prob goes away you have a bad keyswitch or kill switch or faulty wire to controls .
if that doesnt do it repost.and get manual check all wires for corrosion .
check elec components with dva .worst case take it to a omc tech that familiar with the older omc v6s and spend a few dollars if your lucky he will let ya watch,
good luck

Mine was doing this exact thing and it turned out to be my timerbase was shot, took it to shop and paid 600 bucks to get fixed. probably be cheaper if you do it yourself.

What does "no fire" really mean, have you verified no ignition with a timing light or are you just going by whether it starts or not.

I agree with above, ignition switches go bad all too often with boats.

Looked at one of the guys on the forum boats over the weekend, same problem. Disconnected harness plug and it fired up.
Plugged it back and ignition went dead again.

So we disconnected the black/yellow stripe kill wire from ignition switch and spark returned ( taped it off when testing) , he's going to install a new ig switch and see what happens.
