I have a 1992 195 fourwinns sundowner, last year toward the end of summer It started to sputter/sometimes stall when put in reverse. I usually can get it to function by pumping the throttle.
In forward it works fine. I noticed yesterday that the boat will go into reverse without sputtering, if i just shift into reverse and do not give it any throttle. The Plugs have been changed and i sprayed carb cleaner in the carb.
I have know idea what the problem is, but do need
need reverse! please help

check your shift cable adj. the one that goes down to the drive , if it is hanging up it will act like that. there is a electronic ign update kit that when installed with a new shift cable will greatly improve shifting and runing of these engines not to mention longevity of the drive itself the shift cable is not suposed to last more than a couple years it must be checked at least every two
