Hello

I was hoping someone could help with my evinrude E50rnlib outboard.

I have set up all the linkages as per the instruction book, but the engine will not run at full throttle.

I have replaced the fuel pump, new coil, carb kit, new plugs and leads, new fuel line, and still no improvement,
Also a bit lumpy when idling
hopefully someone out there may have a clue :confused::confused::confused:

Re: 1992 50hp Evinrude problems

well im also working with issue with my engine and i am learning from the pro's from here as i am from marine mechanics locally, but from my exsperince with no top end could be gummed up high end jets or fuel restrictions in your tank ,lines, fuel pump ect... or lack of top end compression, rule those out and then see how she does, theres two ways to do a comprssion test one is cold and then the other is while its really warm and you will get two different readings if you have bad rings you shouldnt if you have good rings maybe just a few pounds difference is all + - lbs and if you have a cylinder that is consiberally way off from another like 10lbs + or more than the other will give you a bad engine shake and no top end power, becouse you have one cylinder flooding and the other running normal, hope that helps ya some more , also what is your comprssion have you done one yet to see? and you could have your throttle lingage set wrong too,

Re: 1992 50hp Evinrude problems

I have basically the same engine (89- 50hp) that did precisely the same thing.

I had to clean the carbs 3 times to finally find and remove the blockage in the high speed jets in the carbs. The diameter of the jets are different from one carb to the other (on mine at least).

The way I determined that the carbs were still fouled was I took it out on the water, gave it throttle, and the pressed and held the primer and the engine revved right up. Not sure if that is kosher, but it took 3 times cleaning it before I finally got it clean....that was two seasons ago, and it's run great ever since
