I recently purchased a boat with this motor on it and am having some problems with it. At top speed or a little less it seems as if it runs out of fuel, bucks a couple of times so I slow down and put it in neutral and it dies and won't restart. But after 3-4 minutes it starts good. This problem does not happen all the time.At trolling speeds it runs fine.I put new plugs in it,Champion, someone said to use NGK ?? Only sometimes I get the warning horn for fuel restriction but not every time this happens??? Fuel filter is good, also fresh gas in tank. ???? sell it???
Puzzled in Canada.

If you are getting continous alarm engine is overheating, this engine does not have fuel restriction sensor.

If it's a built in tank check the vent. Or try a different fuel source and hose it direct to the pump (no connections). Stick with Champion plugs (Ql77JC4) and 87 octane.

Good luck!

Ahoy, Quin. Good advice above. Additional suggestions:
1. If you can't say that the Impeller has been changed this season, change it.
2. Overhaul your fuel pump.
3. If you don't have an inline fuel filter with a transparent "bowl", put one in.

Red sky at night. . .
JB
