I have a 1992 90HP merc 2-stroke 3-cylinder. When I first put the boat in the water, I squeeze the primer ball 2x, then I put the fast idle handle all the way up and I turn the motor over while pushing in the key. The boat starts with no problem. I let it warm up in fast idle for a minute and then take off.
My problem is that if I shut it off momentarily or for a few minutes (to let a waterskier get up into the boat lets say..) I have a really hard time starting the boat back up, and when I finally do get it started back up, it starts with a large puff of white smoke.
If I shut if off for a long time, I am able to start it up again repeating the procedure above.
Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?
