This past weekend my family and I went out on our boat for the first time in a month. We keep it in a lift year round. After we were done on Saturday night we tied off and left it in the water. The next day there was 2ft of standing water from the bilge through to the cabin. Luckily we got there when we did. The batteries were turned off so the bilge pump was not running. I lifted the boat out of the water and pumped the boat out and checked the engine. The engine was fine though 2 more inches and we would have had serious problems. Once pumped out, I put the boat back in the water, started the engine and checked all hoses, no leaks. I turned the engine off and took a fairly bright light into the engine chamber and couldn't see any leaks. We took the boat out all day with no problems. We even tied off with some other boats for about 4 hours with no leaks. What in the hell happened? Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on what it could be?

Nope, the drive was tilted down. It's the strangest thing.

Possibly you have a slow leak that when the boat is in use the batteries are on and therefore the auto bilge pump would work as needed. When the boat was docked overnite the batteries were turned off so no bilge pump unless the auto bilge pump is wired direct to the battery as it should be.
I had a slow leak in my I/O which took me a while to figure out. It was leaking thru the shift cable that runs thru the transom to the outdrive.

we had a leak all summer that i couldn't find. 1 nite the bilge pump decided not to work and boat filled to ski locker's top. marina found a broken block plug(a 4$ part). when engine was running it would pump water into bilge and depending how it was parked it would cause a syphon affect and keep filling with motor off.
