Hi all,

I apologize as I am sure this horse may have been beat before but I am confused!! I just bought a boat with a 1992 48hp Evinrude Special. I have to premix oil/gas.

OK, so we are on the same page, I like spending a few extra bucks to do things right, use good parts, good oil etc. Example is I run Mobile1 in my truck, car, mower, and air compressor...lol (I am sure some will tell me to use Lucas).

Anyway I digressed - sorry. I want to know what I should use in my 48SPL. I assume XD30 was the norm in 1992. Now XD50 is better? XD100 is at lesser burn rate? But I hear it is semi-syn? And the previous owner ran Merc/QS Premium Plus.

So my "guess" is to go with XD50?? I want a better oil, an overkill, but not extreme. And most importantly, I don?t want to be thinking more expensive is better and run something "wrong".

Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

If you want the best run Pennzoil 100% synthetic. Not the most expensive, but not excelled either.
