Recently bought this boat, it has sat for two years. Drained gas and put new gas in. Sometimes it runs great, I went over a boats wake and it lost power... only runs about 2000 rpm's, at times it seems like it wants to take off, then bogs down again. I made a tight right turn and it started to run better. I pulled the plugs and all were very wet. Changed plugs, wires. Compression is 125 in all cylinders. Any ideas?

if it sat with old fuel, you problem is most likely your carb passages, inside the carbs have dirt, the only proper way to fix it is taking carbs totally apart and soaking in a carb cleaner and blowing compressed air through all passages, you may need new carb kits, but sometimes you can salvage the old,if they have any bad deposits or gaskets are dried up ,get the kits, you can order the parts thru the parts section on top of this website page.Running it the way it is WILL lean out a cyl and you will blow it up

Took the boat to an outboard mechanic, being that the motor always seems to lose power after going over another boats wake, he figured that maybe it was a bad plug wire. He checked all wires and spark was good. We took the boat to a local lake to test and tried to duplicate going over our own wake, were out for an hour and the boat ran great. Went out this morning, first wake I hit...same problem, loses power and drops to around 15-1800 rpm. We trolled for 5 hours and it ran good, took off and it seemed fine again...another boat wake and same problem happens. I'll do the carb kit and cleaning next. Is there anything else that could be causing this? The mechanic said it may be a sticky float, would that cause these symptoms?
